Program for Luncheon Honoring Elena Ceaușescu

This is the inner right side of a program for a luncheon hosted by First Lady Rosalynn Carter on April 13, 1978 in honor of First Lady Elena Ceaușescu of Romania. The event was held at the Smithsonian's Museum of History and Technology, later known as the National Museum of American History. Although Elena Ceaușescu was in Washington, D.C. to accompany her husband, Nicolae Ceaușescu, during his State Visit, this luncheon recognized Mrs. Ceaușescu's unique achievements in Romania's chemical research, scientific, and political communities. Guests at the luncheon also had the opportunity to explore the museum's "Atom Smasher" and "Art and Science" exhibits. This part of the program includes a menu from the luncheon. As executive chef from 1966-1987, Haller oversaw many formal meals for distinguished guest from around the world.
